Originally from the small northern town of Parry Sound Ontario, Melanie began dancing at the age of three. She really discovered her love for dance after a move to Calgary, Alberta at age 8. She continued her studies at Canterbury High School, after her family relocated to Ottawa, and completed summer intensives at L’Ecole Superieure De Ballet Du Quebec and Greta Leeming School of Dance. After an accident took away her ability to train for many months, Melanie returned as a member of the Ottawa Roughriders dance team. She spent three seasons with the Roughriders while completing grade 13, and then studying at Carleton University.
Melanie completed her Bachelors degree in Science and went on to Chiropractic College, where she earned her Doctor of Chiropractic Degree in 2002. She and her husband Ian share 4 children, and are blessed to be a part of the DanceRoots family.
