Dane has been singing for over 20 years. Growing up, he performed extensively with the Kanata Children’s Chorus and the Lakeside Players. He is a graduate of the Arts Canterbury vocal music program in Ottawa. After high school Dane attended Queen’s University, reading in Music Education, Early Musicology and Western History, obtaining his Bachelor of Music degree in 2008. While at university, Dane took advantage of the many performing and teaching opportunities available to him. With the Queen’s Student Opera Company, he appeared in “Orfeo ed Euridice,” “L’Elisir d’Amore” and “Les Dialogues des Carmelites.” In 2006, Dane recorded his first professional C.D. with The Malyshko Collegium, a Mediaeval and Renaissance music ensemble, entitled “Musical Echoes of the Middle Ages and Renaissance.”
Following university, Dane returned to Ottawa where he has continued to perform with various opera companies and choirs throughout the city, namely The Savoy Society of Ottawa, The Southminster United Church Chamber Choir, and Capital City Opera. He began teaching and directing in 2009 and has had students successfully complete Royal Conservatory Vocal examinations and public recitals. Dane is the current Music Director for the Lakeside Players, and enjoys sharing his creative energies and love of the vocal instrument with his students.
